A look back on 25 years of cooperation in the Baltic region in the literary field, ten years after the inauguration of the virtual Baltic Sea Library in Venstpils, Latvia – a process that now has led to the publication of Die Ostsee. Berichte und Geschichten aus 2000 Jahren.

• Scandinavian, German and American Studies in Kiel, Uppsala, Berlin and Turku
• Prose writer (Nachkrieg und die Trümmer von Ostpreußen, Berlin 2018; Die versunkene Welt. Ein ostpreußisches Dorf in Erzählungen der Leute, Frankfurt/Main 2008), poet (Scherben Leben Brocken Tod. Gedichte 1969-99, Berlin 2001), and translator of Swedish and Finnish-Swedish fiction since 1977
• Several awards, among them Paul-Celan-Prize for Literary Translation 2005, Gerard Bonnier prize and Mikael Lybeck prize in 2016
